Thirty drums in a circle and room for many more. The African Drum Circle opens the Culture Stage on Saturday afternoon with traditional rhythms from West Africa, led by three master drummers who explain each pattern before the whole circle joins in.
Everyone can take part: spare drums are handed out, and children are especially welcome in the inner circle. If you would rather listen, the covered seating at the side of the stage is a good spot. The session lasts ninety minutes. Free entry.
